Petromania Resurrection, March 16 2023

The SPE Dhaka University Student Chapter successfully concluded the lecture program, "Petromania Resurrection," on March 16th, 2023.

The program was divided into two segments. The first segment was a Lecture Program with a quiz competition, and the second segment was a Presentation Competition. The facilitators of the Lecture Program were Mr. K.M. Imam Hossain, Assistant Director of Geological Survey of Bangladesh, and Mr. A. J. M. Emdadul Haque, Assistant Director of Geological Survey of Bangladesh.

During the lecture program, students learned a lot. Mr. Emdadul Haque introduced the Geological Survey of Bangladesh and shared his working experience with everyone. He discussed the types of work alongside the procedure of their work, vision, goals, and achievements. He also talked about how to build a career in Geological Survey of Bangladesh. He also arranged a small quiz competition. He gifted the winner (Sihab Hossain, 4th year) a hat. Then, Mr. Imam Hossain gave an important career talk, advising everyone on how to pursue a career after studying geology inside and outside of Bangladesh.

Additionally, we held a Quiz Competition with the following winners:

Champion: Mst. Hasna Hena, 1st Year, Department of Geology

1st Runner Up: Mst. Proma Sultana Borsha, 4th year, Department of Geology

2nd Runner-Up: Shakil Ahmed, 4th year, Department of Geology

The Presentation Competition started after the lunch break with Judges Janifar Hakim Lupin, Assistant Professor at the University of Dhaka, and Mr. K. M. Imam Hossain, Assistant Director of Geological Survey of Bangladesh. The competition was divided into two categories: Senior Category (students from 3rd year, 4th year, and MS) and Junior Category (students from 1st year and 2nd year). The following teams were announced as winners:

Champion Team from Senior Category: Rocks Under Pressure

1st Runner-Up Team from Senior Category: Earth Explorer

2nd Runner-Up Team from Senior Category: Offshore Phantoms

Champion Team from Junior Category: 5th Wave

Emdadul Haque for their phenomenal presentations and to Janifar Hakim Lupin Ma’am for attending the program and judging the Presentation Competition. We would also like to thank all the participants of "Petromania Resurrection."
