SPE Dhaka University Chapter has successfully organized a two-day long combined geological field trip 2-4th February 2023 with SEG, AAPG, and EAGE Student Chapters of Dhaka University at Changotang Anticline, Khagrachari, with over 40 students (2nd Year to Master's) including executives from every chapter and 2 faculty members. The field was led by Professor Dr. Anwar Bhuiyan, Department of Geology, University of Dhaka and Mr Farhad Hossain, Lecturer at the Department of Geology, University of Dhaka.
We studied the Changotang Anticline at Matiranga road cut section. Students from 2nd year to Master's had the opportunity to interact with each other and learn together. We are very much grateful to our respected teachers and the officials of Hill Agricultural Research Station, Khagrachari(BARI).
On the first day, we visited the Risang waterfall and on the second day, we visited the Alutila Cave where we studied the depositional environment and the structures of the area along with the Geohazard, and landslide risk of that area. In addition to this, we looked into the available resources. Students from the Department of Geology at the University of Dhaka were benefited tremendously from their participation in this fieldwork.
SPE Dhaka University Chapter is in debt to Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain Bhuiyan, Faculty Advisor of SPEDU, AAPGDU, UDGS, and Associate Professor Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Faculty Advisor of EAGE DU and Mr. Farhad Hossain Lecturer at the Department of Geology, University of Dhaka for helping out the all the executive committee members to organize the field and monitoring the students.
